Publication Ethics

Ethics Statement:

The Pan Arab Journal of Neurosurgery (PAJN) adheres to the ethical standards described by the Committee on Publication Ethics and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. Authors should adhere to these standards. For all manuscripts reporting data from studies involving animal or human participants, formal review and waiver (exemption), or formal review and approval, by the ethics committee or institutional review board (IRB) is required, as well as any necessary HIPAA consent. This should be clearly mentioned in the Methodology section. The Journal reserves the right to request any research materials on which the paper was based. The editor may reject the manuscript if there are concerns that the study was not performed in an appropriate ethical framework.

Patient Permission Policy:

All studies involving human participants should include a statement that written consents have been given by all participants. Any photos showing faces of the patients should be covered. A signed patient permission statement must be signed from every patient who is recognizable from the manuscript or the photos and a copy should be submitted with the manuscript.

Plagiarism:

The PAJN encourages submission of original work that has not been previously published in part or in whole as well as avoiding any plagiarism. All articles will be evaluated for the presence of plagiarism. The manuscript may be subject to an investigation and retraction if plagiarism is found. Sentences from works of others may be quoted or paraphrased as long as the original work is cited. All submissions are accepted with the understanding that they will not be published elsewhere substantially in any format.

Copyright Statement:

The copyrights of the manuscript will be transferred to the PAJN once the article is accepted for publication. The copyright transfer form should be signed from all authors and sent back to the editorial office. Thus, the PAJN do not allow authors to hold copyright or to retain publishing rights. The corresponding author will be responsible about all communications with the Journal.

Conflict of Interest:

A list of disclosures is required from every named author in the manuscript. Any relevant financial or non-financial conflicts to the article should be disclosed. Types of conflicts include: Institutional Support, Research Support, Royalties, Consulting, Ownership, Speakers Bureau, Fellowship Support, and Stock/Options. Any commercial entity whose products are reviewed, described, compared, or evaluated in the manuscript, except for those that were disclosed in the Acknowledgments section, represent potential conflicts. If no conflicts exist, please state so in this section.
